CIMAP’s Breakthrough in Herbal Conservation
🌱 Research Highlight – August 2025
CSIR‑CIMAP in Lucknow has introduced ‘CIM‑Rhoi Gold’, a new high-yield variety of the endangered Ayurvedic herb Prishniparni (Uraria picta). Developed after cross-screening 53 germplasm samples, this variety features 1.0–1.5% Rhoifolin—a key anti-inflammatory and immune-support compound — offering both conservation and higher extract yields (https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/lucknow/cimap-develops-new-variety-to-save-endangered-ayurvedic-herb/).
This breakthrough supports sustainable herb cultivation while preserving biodiversity—essential for long-term supplier viability.
