    About This Oleoresin

    Asafoetida (Hing) Oleoresin is a full-spectrum, solvent-extracted oleoresin of the oleo-gum-resin of Ferula assa-foetida root, supplied as a light yellow to dark brown liquid. Hing is the dried oleo-gum-resin tapped from the root of Ferula plants of Iran and Afghanistan; its intense sulfurous note mellows to an onion-garlic savouriness in cooking. Solvent extraction followed by solvent recovery concentrates the sulfur-rich flavour fraction of the resin into a dose-efficient liquid that replaces raw hing resin in processing. Naturally occurring constituents include sulfur compounds such as sec-butyl propenyl disulfide, and ferulic acid esters. It is used in Indian savoury cooking, lentil and vegetable dishes, snacks, pickles and seasoning blends.
