    About This Oleoresin

    Capsicum Oleoresin 5% Capsaicin is a full-spectrum, solvent-extracted oleoresin of Capsicum annuum fruit, supplied as an orange-red to dark red liquid. Capsicum oleoresin is the pungency extract of hot red chilli; its heat comes from capsaicinoids, chiefly capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin. A small dose delivers heat at a fraction of the weight of ground chilli, and grades are set by capsaicinoid content. Solvent extraction followed by solvent recovery concentrates the capsaicinoid pungency and carotenoid fraction into a dose-efficient liquid that replaces ground capsicum in processing. Naturally occurring constituents include capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin with capsanthin carotenoids. It is used in sauces, snacks, meat products and seasonings that need heat.
