About This Oil

Castor Oil (INCI Ricinus Communis Seed Oil) is a cold-pressed seed oil and the only common carrier dominated by ricinoleic acid at 82–90%. That hydroxylated fatty acid gives its distinctive high viscosity and film-forming behaviour. Used in lip balms, hair growth serums, eyelash conditioners and soap making, where it drives lather. Typically diluted at 10–25% in blends rather than used neat. Available from 500 g with no minimum order quantity.

Scalp & hair oil: Apply Castor Oil neat to scalp and lengths as a pre-shampoo conditioning treatment, or blend at 10–30% in a multi-oil hair formulation with lighter carriers.

Ayurvedic hair blend: Incorporate Castor Oil at 10–25% in traditional Ayurvedic hair oils alongside sesame, coconut, or amla oil for enhanced therapeutic profile.

Emulsion (conditioner/mask): Add Castor Oil to the oil phase of rinse-off hair conditioning emulsions at 3–10% inclusion for conditioning benefit without heavy residue.

Scalp serum: Use Castor Oil at 5–20% in lightweight scalp treatment serums — pair with a lighter carrier (jojoba, grapeseed) to manage viscosity and spreadability.

Leave-on hair treatment: Suitable at 2–8% in leave-on hair oils and serums for targeted scalp or split-end treatment without weighing hair down.
