Product Overview

CTC Tea (Camellia sinensis) — Black Tea Granules/Powder — Organic & Conventional is a bold, aroma-forward black tea prepared by the classic crush–tear–curl method. The fast-infusing granules (lightly milled, sieve-graded) deliver a deep copper cup and creamy body—ideal for chai blends, RTM sticks, tea bags, and capsule sachets. We supply two variants: Certified Organic (handled to NPOP/NOP/Canada Organic/EU 834/2007) and Conventional food-grade. Lots are packed in low-humidity rooms with tamper-evident seals and verified by in-house quality control (identity, moisture, sieve cut) for consistent colour, cup strength, and flow from pilot to scale.

Key bio-actives: Theaflavins & thearubigins (oxidised tea polyphenols) · Catechin residues · L-theanine · Caffeine (naturally occurring) · Tannins · Aroma volatiles

Grade: Food-grade (Conventional) · Certified Organic grade available; naturally caffeinated.

Shelf-life: 18–36 months when stored below 77 °F (25 °C) < 60% RH in an airtight pack.

Form: CTC granules / fine-milled powder, sieve-graded.

Process: Wither → Crush–Tear–Curl (CTC) → Controlled oxidation → Drying → Sieve grading → Low-humidity packing.

Tea bag / quick cup: 2 g per 200 ml just-boiled water; steep 2–3 min for a brisk cup; avoid over-steep to limit astringency.

RTM sticks / iced: 2–2.5 g; brew hot concentrate (100 ml), dilute to 250–300 ml over ice; add lemon/ginger if desired.

Capsules (flavour/aroma): 300–500 mg for aroma-led combos with spices or vitamin C blends (non-functional, flavour-first use).

Stack idea: Build a base with cardamom, ginger, cinnamon or lemongrass; introduce one addition per week to keep SOPs reproducible. If caffeine-sensitive, place earlier in the day and cap total cups.

Q: CTC vs orthodox leaf—how should I choose?

A: CTC gives faster infusion, stronger cup and consistent strength across sachets and tea bags—ideal for chai and RTM sticks. Orthodox leaf offers more nuance but needs longer steeps and isn’t as uniform for large-scale blends. For operations, lock a target strength (grams per 250 ml and a 2–3 minute window), then taste CTC and orthodox side-by-side with only one variable changed.

    Claim strength: High

    Claim-strength scale – High = strong handling/flavour consensus; Moderate = a few trials/practitioner consensus; Emerging = early or context-specific.

Q: How do I reduce bitterness while keeping body?

A: Keep water at a rolling boil but limit steep to 2–3 minutes; add milk/fat or a spice accent for roundness. In iced builds, brew a hot concentrate and dilute over ice to avoid over-extraction. Standardise grams, time and water volume in SOPs so results are repeatable.

    Claim strength: High

    Q: Any timing cautions?

A: Naturally caffeinated—most users place cups in the morning or early afternoon. If sensitive, cap daily cups and avoid late-evening use. As routine practice, space ~90 minutes from medications and maintain hydration.

    Claim strength: High

Q: Organic vs Conventional—what changes on labels and ops?

A: The Organic variant follows NPOP/NOP/Canada Organic/EU 834/2007 with segregated documentation and chain-of-custody; Conventional is the same black tea without organic certification. Don’t mix grades within one SKU—keep distinct barcodes, prices and batch logs. Both variants are packed under low humidity with in-house QC (identity & key specs).

    Claim strength: High
